Billy Cooper

August 10, 1928 — January 24, 2019

Baton Rouge

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  Love never fails.”   1 Corinthians 13:4-8.

Father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Billy Lafayette “PaPaw” Cooper was reunited in eternal rest with the love of his life for over 70 years, Myrna Goodman Cooper on January 24, 2019.  He was 90 years old, born in Jackson, MS,  on August 10, 1928, and raised in Pelahatchie, MS.  He retired in 1983 as District Staff Manager-Business Services for MS and LA after 38 years of service with Southern Bell Telephone Co., South Central Bell, BellSouth and then AT&T.

He is survived by 3 daughters, Libby Carambat, Joy Mayeux (Steve), and Katherine Casey (Pat); five grandchildren, Sterling Thorne (Susie), Chad Thorne, Tiffany Yelverton (Mike), Kristin Marler (Robert), and John Casey (Diana); and eight great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Vera Cooper; 2 sisters, Eddie Myrtle Moore and Jane Richardson, grandson Chase William Krajicek and great-granddaughter Ramsey Katherine Marler.

Our Dad was the sweetest, most caring man who loved his wife and daughters with all of his heart.  He was much-loved and will be greatly missed by so many. Visitation will be  January 28th from 10:30-11:45 and the service will be at 12:00 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Pelahatchie, MS.  Rev John Vaughn will officiate the services.
