Billy Fortenberry

Mr. Billy Fortenberry was born in Rankin County on November 2, 1943 to his parents, Alfred and Emma Irene Lampkin Fortenberry. He passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family March 6, 2019 at the age of 75.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Ridge Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the funeral home.

Rev. Phillip Roland, Rev. Tony Fortenberry, and Rev. James Shoemaker will officiate. Musical selections for the service will be classic hymns of the faith, with special selections “Sinner Saved by Grace” and “Rock of Ages.”

Mr. Fortenberry was a retired self-employed poultry farmer who enjoyed four wheeler riding and camping in days gone by. He will be remembered as a family man, who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and spending time with them. He was a member of the Forest Masonic Lodge and the Hillsboro Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister: Patricia Fortenberry.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Mrs. Sue Fortenberry of Forest; two children: Scott Ladell (Renee) Fortenberry of Brandon and Rhonda Sue (Alex) Fortenberry Harrison of Forest; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother: Van (Ruby) Fortenberry of Forest; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Fortenberry, Daniel Fortenberry, Trey Lowe, Bradley Anderson, Johnny Pettigrew, and Jerry Johnson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Pettigrew, John Bailey and Joe Rigby.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
