Billy Joe Hobby, 81, passed away Tues. May 31, 2016 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Thurs. June 2, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS and on Fri. June 3, 2016 from 10am-10:45am at Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services will be at 11am on Fri. June 3, 2016 at the Brandon Baptist Church with burial to follow.
Mr. Hobby was born in Philadelphia, MS and was a longtime resident of the Jackson Metro Area. Mr. Hobby was an ordained deacon and a former member of Oak Forest Baptist Church in South Jackson, MS and more recently and active member of Brandon Baptist Church in Brandon, MS. Mr. Hobby served his country and retired after 35 years of service with the MS Army National Guard. He was a member of the Civitan Club, enjoyed Mississippi State Athletics, and spending time at the family farm in Neshoba County. Mr. Hobby was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. The light of his eye was his grandchildren, Jackie, Rachel, and Emily, and his great grandchildren, Jack, and Betsy who he loved very much.
Mr. Hobby is survived by his wife, Jeanette Jones Hobby; children, Jeff Hobby (Pam), and Sandra Hobby Ballentine (Bill); grandchildren, Jackie Bost (Mary Virginia), Rachel Hobby, and Emily Ballentine; two great grandchildren, Jack Bost, and Betsy Bost; sister, Georgia Lee; nephew, James Donald (Renee); niece, Linda Davis (Tim); and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hobby is preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
