Billy Joe Watson, “Grandaddy, ”Big Daddy”, “Daddy Bill”, 77, passed Mon. July 12, 2010 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, after a long, courageous fight with prostate cancer. Visitation will be held today from 6-8pm. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Funeral Services are 12pm. Wed. July 14, 2010 at the funeral home with interment to follow at the New Brandon Cemetery.
Mr. Watson was born October 10, 1932 in Troy, TN. He served his country in the US Airforce from 1952 to 1972. After retiring from the Airforce, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration. He retired in April 1994 after serving as the flight chief at Jackson International Airport. Mr. Watson played golf from 1988 until the Dr. took his clubs away.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Rachel Watson; his daughter, Belinda Gail (Rick) Campbell; his son, Dr. R. Michael Watson (Laurie); his grandchildren, Preston and Rachel Campbell of Magnolia, TX and Eric, Austin, and Joseph Watson of Brandon; his two sisters, Carolyn (Harold) Garrison of Troy, TN and Imogene (Ralph) Wallace of Canton, MI and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Watson is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Erma Watson and his two brothers, Everett and Edward Watson.
