Mr. Billy Ray “Hoss” Harris, age 83, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at his residence. Visitation was held 2-8pm Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 8am-2pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service were held 2pm Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Bowman Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Howard Haar officiated the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Billy Ray was born in Smith County on May 3, 1931. He loved to be outdoors fishing, hunting and running his dogs. Occasionally he could be heard playing the guitar and singing. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Harris and Bessie Bounds Harris; brother, Carl Ellis Harris and ex-wife, Lessie Harris.
He is survived by his son, Billy Kirt Harris of Pelahatchie; daughter, Barbara Harris Latiker of Pelahatchie; step daughter, Sarah Jordan (Freddie) of Pearl; 3 sisters, Flo Tuberville (Luther) of Madison, Jo Graham (Thomas) of Madison and Elaine Kelley (Bob) of Pelahatchie; 2 brothers, Mack Harris of Vicksburg and Edgar Travis “Buster” Harris (Shelia) of Madison; 4 grandchildren, Brittany Ragsdale (Steve), Kyle Brown, Larry Williams (Kelly) and Kevin Williams; 5 great grandchildren, Baley Irby, Devin Ragsdale, Kylie Ragsdale, Adrian Ragsdale and Joseph Williams; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
