Bobbie Nell "Bobba" Landreth went to be with Jesus on January 22, 2022, after a
long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She died peacefully at her home
surrounded by her family, close friends, and her Pastor (Bro. Rodney Jones).
She was born August 22, 1937, in Brandon, Mississippi to Wallace and Myrtle
Noland as the first of four girls. She graduated from Brandon High School where
she was a cheerleader and selected Most Witty time after time. Throughout
Elementary and High School, she never missed a single day of school. She
graduated from Mississippi College in 1958 with a Bachelor's Degree in
Elementary Education.
Her passion was teaching, and she loved each
every one of her students. Her teaching career spanned over 60 years teaching at
Southwest Academy, Hinds County Public Schools, Antwerp International School
in Belgium. After retiring, she continued to substitute at Hartfield Academy until she was
82 years old. All her students adored and cherished her. She also traveled to
India, The Czech Republic, Slovenia, and other European Countries on a Fullbright
Scholarship.
She married the love of her life, Shedd Landreth on July 18, 1959. They met at her
best friend's wedding and Shedd said she was THE prettiest thing he had ever
seen. They were married for 62 years.
She was small in stature, however spunky with a larger than life, bubbly personality that
made everyone that met her fall in love with her instantly. Bobbie never, ever
met a stranger and brought warmth and humor to everyone.
She led an extraordinary life that involved traveling the World and even lived with
Shedd for over four years in Belgium.
Bobbie was an extremely talented seamstress, a huge Elvis fan, and avid
Braves and Freddie Freeman fan. She loved her family, especially her
Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She spent many days watching them at
swim meets, baseball games and traveling with them to Florida to the beach.
The beach was indeed her "Happy Place". In fact, her idea of Heaven was being on the beach with crystal clear blue water, white sand that didn't stick to your feet
and salt water that wouldn't sting your eyes.
But, most of all she loved Jesus and steadfastly served Him at Alta Woods Baptist
Church, Van Winkle Baptist Church, Church of the Highlands, Bragg St. House of Prayer and
Oakdale Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Shedd Young Landreth; her son, Robert Landreth
(Allison), her daughter, Wendy Stewart (Steve); Grandchildren, Morgan Lowery
(Brady); Parker Stewart and Sloane Stewart; Great Grandchildren, Banks, Barron
and Mary Roberts Lowery. Sisters; Carole Newman (Bill), Linda Hayman, and
Dadie Purvis (Don); and a host of nieces and nephews and very special cousins.
The family will receive friends for visitation at Oakdale Baptist Church at 1872
Highway 471, Brandon, MS, 39047, from 10am-12pm on January 25, 2022, with
the service to follow at the church at 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family
would greatly appreciate memorials to one of the following: Oakdale Baptist
Church and/or Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
