Bobby Sybil Harpe Boone, 92, died peacefully Monday, September 2, 2019, at Mississippi Care Center in Morton, MS, where she had been a resident for 6 years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 4, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at her home church, Lodebar United Methodist Church, Pelahatchie, MS. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. at Lodebar followed by interment in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Boone is preceded in death by her parents, Eulyce and Pearl Martin Harpe; husband, Sam Boone; brothers, Arthur Cole (Doogie) Harpe and Jack William (Man) Harpe; nephew Jack W. (Little Jack) Harpe, Jr.
Survivors include three sisters, Altus Harpe (Gal) Rhodes (Lamar), Mary Kate (Tissie) Harpe Knight (Lee Edwin), Helen Harpe (Tootie) Lawrence (Richard); sister-in-law, Frances Harpe Williams; her husband’s children, Barbara Jean Boone Clark (Curtis), Vickie Boone Blaylock (Lewis), and Danny Boone (Nancy); 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; nieces, Judy Rhodes Davis, Renae Knight, Carlotta Knight Edwards, Rhonda Lawrence Bean, and Cindy Callicott Laseter; nephews, Jim Rhodes, Randy Knight, Taylor Callicott, and Ricky Lee Lawrence; and a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Bobby Sybil grew up in Pelahatchie and spent many happy years working as a beautician in the hotel industry and her own shop. She and “Boone” met while employed at The Heidelberg Hotel, and later they managed The Sun-N-Sand Motel in downtown Jackson, MS. They enjoyed ballroom dancing in several fraternal organizations. Bobby was active in Eastern Star and Lady Shriners. Bobby loved her caregivers at Mississippi Care Center, and they loved her. Her family is most grateful for the compassionate souls who blessed Bobby with their devotion and attention in her later years.
Pallbearers will be Jim Rhodes, Randy Knight, Ricky Lee Lawrence, Charles Edwards, John Kyle Davis and Ken Harpe Davis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Lodebar Cemetery Fund at P.O. Box 844, Pelahatchie, MS 39145.
