Bobby Earl Burns, 75, passed away Fri. Oct. 30, 2015 at the Brandon Court Nursing Home in Brandon, MS. Visitation will be held on Sun. Nov. 1, 2015 from 2pm-5pm and on Mon. Nov. 2, 2015 from 9am-9:45am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 10am Mon. Nov. 2, 2015 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with a 3pm graveside service to follow the funeral services at the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church Cemetery in Eupora, MS.
Mr. Burns was born in Eupora, MS and was a longtime resident of the Jackson Metro Area. He graduated from Mathiston High School in Mathiston, MS and attended Hinds Community College in Raymond, MS. He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1961 and was stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and in North Carolina. Mr. Burns was a longtime member of Parkway Baptist Church in Jackson, MS where he served as a deacon, 5th and 6th grade Sunday School Teacher and was part of the Bus Ministry as a Captain and Driver. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, MS. Mr. Burns was a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service in Clinton, MS and was the owner of Burns Services INC. from 1979-2008. He was also a member of the Mississippi Subcontractors Association and the Jaycees in Clinton, MS.
Mr. Burns is survived by his daughter, Allison Burns Rooker (Derek); two grandchildren, Bennett Henry Rooker and Collins Elizabeth Rooker; ex-wife and friend, Christine Wall (David); sisters-in-law, Dot Burns, Jean Burns Whisenant and Sylvia Burns; step brothers, J.D. Schaefer and Tom Schaefer (Mary Lee) and a step sister, Lorene Cummins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Noah Henry Vardaman Burns and Modena Holland Burns; step mother, Doshie Schaefer Burns; brothers, Amos Burns, Carl Burns and Jessie Odell Burns (Bettye); step brothers, Will Schaefer (Eva), Lonnie Schaefer (Mary Jo), and Leroy Schaefer,step sister, Lois Brooks (Claude), step sister in law, Lucille Schaefer and a step brother in law, Willis Cummins.
