Bobby Carroll Skinner, age 81 a resident of Laurel died Thursday June 20, 2013 at the Mississippi Veterans Nursing Home in Kosciusko following an extended illness.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30am Saturday June 22, 2013 in the Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Laurel. Father Joe Dyer officiated the services.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 8pm Friday June 21, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Mr. Skinner was born on August 19, 1931 in Jones County to his parents Eddie Leon Skinner and Emma Lois McAlpin Skinner.
He was member of Big Creek Baptist Church in Laurel. He served his country in the United States Navy. After his tenure in the service, he worked in sales. Mr. Skinner retired as a salesman from Oil Field Rental, Inc. in 1996. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Country Cooks. He enjoyed the outdoors, drawing and whittling. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Barbara Skinner, a son Danny Harroll Skinner and a brother, Johnny Skinner.
Mr. Skinner is survived by his daughter Leasa S. Bergin (“AL”) of Forest, four grandchildren; Joe Bergin (Lacey), Kate Van Etten (Chris), John Bergin, Marty Ann Lindsey (Brian). He also leaves a legacy of five great- grandchildren; Cole Bergin, Kennedie Van Etten, Rhece Van Etten, Carsyn Bergin and Will Lindsey.
Pallbearers are Joe Bergin, John Bergin, Chris Van Etten, Burny Bergin, Chris Van Etten and Mike Herrington. Honorary pallbearers are The Country Cooks from Laurel.
