Bobbye Burns McIntyre Horne, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. Visitation is 5-7 pm Wednesday and 12:30 pm Thursday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. Services are 2 pm Thursday at the funeral home with burial in Brandon Memorial Gardens.
Bobbye was a native of Rankin County, having also lived in Natchez, Florida, Texas and California before moving back to Brandon in 1974. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brandon. Bobbye was a 1946 graduate of Brandon High School where she was voted Wittiest by her classmates. She was also assistant editor of the school annual, a member of the band and basketball team. Bobbye was a graduate of The University of Mississippi, majoring in Psychology and a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority.
Bobbye was known for her contagious smile, her quick wit, colorful socks that matched her personality, and her love for life. Being an avid reader, she was a member of several book clubs. Some of her other favorite pastimes were playing bridge with the Brandon Matron’s Club , and being a part of the Explorers Bible Study.
Survivors include her daughters, Sally Cole Hamlin and husband Mark of Jackson, Patricia Burns Horne Crain of Jackson; son, Christopher Michael Horne of Petaluma, CA; brother, John Cole McIntyre, Jr. of Brandon and six grandchildren, Christopher Jeremy Horne, Courtney JoAnne Horne, William Cameron Crain, Conor Burns Crain, Katherine Cole Hamlin and Alexander Greear Hamlin; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bobbye was preceded in death by her parents, Judge W. E. and Viola Burns McIntyre, Sr. and brother, William Edward McIntyre, Jr..
Her family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. John E. Studdard and the staff of the fourth floor east wing of St. Dominic Hospital for their loving care and respect shown to their mother during her illness.
