Bobby Joe Lewis, age 82, a resident of Forest died Wednesday November 18, 2015 at the G.V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Saturday November 21, 2015 from the chapel of the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Cemetery in Smith County. Visitation will be held from 5pm-8pm Friday November 20, 2015. Bro. Doyle Boyles and Bro. Jim McIntosh will officiate.

Mr. Lewis was born in Smith County on March 12, 1933 to his parents Isaac Lewis and Eula Shirley Lewis. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Raleigh. He enjoyed being with his family and the outdoors. For many years , he owned and operated Lewis Pest Control Services. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Fred Lewis, four sisters; Elizabeth Wiggins, Betty Lancaster, Irene Lancaster and Dorothy Gilbert.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Bonnie Lewis of Forest, three children; Susan Jones (Daniel), Shelton Lewis (Rachel), and Myra Boyles (Marcus) all of the Forest area. He is also survived by one sister; Margie Simmons. Mr. Lewis also leaves behind a legacy of 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are Matthew Singley, Chris Lancaster, Colton Lewis, Wes Lancaster, Corey Lewis and Ryan Lundy.
