Eighty years ago on March 10, 1941, Jesse and Myrtle Parker were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Bonnie Arlene Parker. At an early age Arlene began her journey to become a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. On Sunday July 4, 2021, her spirit was transformed from this life to the sunny banks of sweet deliverance. Saturday July 10 at 11 a.m. a home going Service will be held at Jesus Name Tabernacle. Visitation Friday July 9 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Her body will be placed in the Jesus Name Tabernacle Cemetery. On that Resurrection morning may her spirit dwell forever with the Lord. As a young lady, she and her longtime friend Dr. Jean Holland began evangelizing across the country winning souls to Christ. She moved to Florence, Mississippi where she became a member of Jesus Name Tabernacle. During her time at Jesus Name Tabernacle, she served as choir director and in the youth ministry. She was a very talented singer and worship leader who would always have a smile on her face. She became so involved in the ministry that it carried her to different countries around the world to help spread the gospel. She was in her sixties when she moved to Monroe, Ohio, where she served Pastors Lawrence and Darlene Bishop at Solid Rock Church. She ministered there as a “SENIORS” Sunday School teacher and co-host of the SISTERS ministry which helped bridge the cultural and race divide among Christian Women. She has been blessed to have such wonderful friends and church family from coast to coast. Sis Arlene leaves a son and daughter in law Chauncey and Becky Fonville; granddaughters, Amber and Isabel Fonville; Sisters: Leah Landrum, Charlotte Watson, Jeanette Howell, Arminta Eubanks and Patricia Parker; Brother: Buck Parker and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She is preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Irma Parker, Sisters: O’Dean Wilson, Elsie Montpelier, and Virgie Alice; Brothers: Joel, JE, Clifton, and Alvin Lee. Sis Arlene leaves behind an extended family including Dr Jean Holland, Sis Nancy Howell, Bob and Anita Oder, Paul and Faye Stone, Jesus Name Tabernacle, Pastor Darlene Bishop, The Harvesters Sunday School Class and Solid Rock Church.
