Mrs. Bonnie Jane Smith, age 82 and a resident of Lena, MS passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the Baptist Medical Center – Leake Hospital in Carthage, MS. Funeral services will be held from the Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton at 10:00 am on Saturday October 31, 2015 with Bro. Larry Duncan and Bro. Billy Henry officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, October 30, 2015 and from 8-9:45am Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Ott and Lee Funeral in Morton. Interment will be at the Cedar Grove Cemetery following the service.Mrs. Bonnie Smith was born to her parents Frank and Margaret “Banks” Johnson on August 11, 1933 in Scott County, MS. She was a resident most of her life in the Lena, MS area around Leake and Scott Counties. She was a member of the group called the “Steel Magnolias” and also a member of the Good Hope Baptist Church where she enjoyed being a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She loved her church, her family and friends. She loved working on puzzles, and talking with people and as one family member said, “she loved to cook and made some of the best cakes around Leake County.”She is preceded in death by her husband, George W. Smith; parents, Frank and Margaret “Banks” Johnson; son, Jeffery Wayne Brown and Billy Mitchell Brown.She is survived by her son, Randall Smith (Mary) of Lena, MS; sister, Jimmie Lee Duckworth of MaGee, MS; grandchild, Kheri Brown Harper; great-grandchildren, Khelsea Brown, Judith Brown, Noah Brown, Broedi Brown, Averi Harper, Mekala Harper, Denecia Harper; and great-great-grandchildren, Khallie Brown and Jhaidyn Brown.Serving as pallbearers are Fred Johnson, David Watkins, Robbie Gill, Danny Shannon, Billy Duckworth, and Jeff Berry.Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee in Morton.(601)732-6571
