Brad “Cornbread” Reeves, age 47, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be held 5-9pm Monday, September 20, 2021 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and again on Tuesday from 8:30am until 1:30pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 2pm Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Sims Hill Cemetery. Bro. Robert Gatewood and Mack Ginn will officiate the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
A native of Jackson, MS he was the son of Barbara Reeves and the late Alfred Jerry Reeves. He lived all of his adult life in Morton, MS. He grew up in Woodville Heights Bapt. Church in Jackson, but was presently a member of Oakgrove Church of God in Polkville. He graduated from Forest Hill High School in Jackson in 1991.
Brad had worked in the electrical field his entire adult life presently employed with Synergy Electric as a project superintendent. When he began his electrical career he was given the nickname “cornbread’ by his coworkers and it remained with him to this day. Growing up he was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and anything pertaining to his church family and friends.
Since the time his daughter was 3, he was a passionate rodeo dad. For the last 15 years he created a large rodeo family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Jerry Reeves and father-in-law, Billy Arnold Rawson.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Reeves of Morton; daughter, Mikayla Reeves of Morton; mother, Barbara Reeves of Raymond; brothers, David Reeves (Courtney) of Florence and Mickey Reeves (Amy) of Raymond; sisters-in-law; Paula Chapman (Harvey) of Morton, Kay Sumner (Rusty) of Lena, Rosa Ashmore (Chris) of Morton and Renee Gibbs (Billy) of Lake; mother-in-law, Agnes Rawson of Morton; many nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Jerald Bierman, Paul Brown, Ronnie Craig, Michael Carter, J.D. Jones, Chris Strickland, Gaston Strickland, PeyPey Strickland. Honorary pallbearers, Alfred Reeves and Jordan Caleb Reeves.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mikayla Brooke Reeves College Fund, 223 Morton Marathon Rd., Morton, MS 39117.
