Mary was born in Ludlow, MS on October 4, 1946 to the late Hubert Fitzhugh and Alice Lampkin Fitzhugh. Brandon was born in Jackson, MS on March 1, 1977 to the late Paul and Mary Elizabeth Fitzhugh Baker.
There was a special connection between Mary and Brandon, not just mother and son. It was Jesus Christ their personal Lord and Savior. They both loved Jesus with all their heart, mind, and soul, and they were always eager to share their witness.
Brandon loved Reba McEntire and would have married her in a heartbeat if he had a chance. He had a gift for recalling dates that was unbelievable. He loved the Dukes of Hazard, sports, movies, the Braves, his grandmother, the yearly Barn Dance held at the Penn family farm, writing and keeping detailed notes about his daily life, and he dearly loved his family. He loved Crossgates Baptist Church, his Sunday School Class, and to hear and see Rev. David Jett preach. Brandon was a great witness for Jesus Christ and a great impact on Crossgates Baptist Church.
Mary is survived by her children, Paula Elizabeth Baker and Stephen Baker; siblings, Regina and Ricky Harvey, Patsy and Roy Carr, and Robin and Peggy Henry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Baker.

Mary dedicated her life to serving the Lord with everything she had. She prayed before and over everything she did. Waiting for God’s answer and being obedient to Him. She was a true prayer warrior. She taught the five-year-old Sunday School at Crossgates Baptist Church for years where she was able to bless and witness to many generations of children who are still at Crossgates Baptist Church whom to this day still call her “Miss Mary”. She sang in the choir and was over the kitchen at the church at one time. One gift from God her artistic ability. No matter what it was she could see and plan out her creation to the last detail in her head and then create woodwork, paintings, and ceramics exactly as she had planned out even to the smallest detail. Her creativity was limitless. She was a certified Ceramic Teacher and taught art in Jackson. Mary made pepper jelly and zucchini bread every year to give to everyone. She was constantly doing for others and was selfless. Mary had a heart for missions and was a member of World Vision for over 15 years.
Mary and Brandon have left an unforgettable example of how we should tell others about Jesus. Not just by words, but by in deeds and actions.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Crossgates Baptist Church Children’s Ministry or Crossgates Baptist Church Missions Fund.
