Brenda Holmes Kuriger

Brenda Holmes Kuriger, 74, cherished wife and mother, passed away peacefully at her Pearl, Mississippi home on the afternoon of June 8, 2024. Born to Harry Lindsley Holmes and Catherine Louise Curtis Holmes in Morton, Mississippi, on October 31, 1949, Brenda was a graduate of Morton High School and East Central Junior College. She dedicated over 30 years of service to the Mississippi Employment Security Commission.

In 1973, Brenda united in marriage with her best friend, Michael Borsig Kuriger,  with whom she recently celebrated their golden anniversary. Their joy continued further with the birth of their daughter, Heather Michelle Kuriger, in 1975. Brenda’s passions—literature, fine wine, shopping, and exploring new places—were joyfully shared with Heather, creating cherished memories.

A devout member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Brenda’s faith remained steadfast. When attending mass became impossible, she found solace and strength in daily scripture readings and her rosary prayers.

Brenda’s legacy continues through her loving husband Mike; her daughter Heather; and her brothers, Harry and Jerry Holmes. Her absence will be profoundly felt by a host of relatives—brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves behind three cherished goddaughters: Shawn Lee Jones, Grace Rayborn, and Alyssa Rayborn.

A Celebration of Life Mass in honor of Brenda Holmes Kuriger will be held at Saint Paul Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 12:00 noon, with visitation commencing at 11:00 a.m. A reception at the church will follow the service. In Brenda’s memory, rather than floral tributes, contributions may be made to The Carmelite Monastery.
