Brenda "Brenda P" Porter

Mrs. Brenda J. Porter, age 73, a resident of Lena passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at MS. Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.  Visitation will be held 5-8pm Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and Wednesday from 8:30am-1pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.  Graveside service will be held at 2pm Wednesday at Ludlow Cemetery with Bro. Jim Burns officiating.  Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Mrs. Porter was born in Scott County on July 31, 1947.  She loved to cook for her family and she was known for her wonderful dressing.  Mrs. Brenda and her sister, Bobbie Sue loved to move furniture and redecorate their homes often.  When Brenda was able she loved working a garden.  By her family and many friends she was known as Brenda P., and she will be missed very much by them.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Donald Porter; son, Kevin Porter; parents, James Madison Cockrell, Sr. and Isabelle Parker Cockrell and sister, Jimmy Trest.

She is survived by her two children, Felicia Thrash of Ridgeland and Jamie Porter and his wife, JoAnn of Brandon; grandchildren, Cody Brown (Tiff), Corey Brown, Caty Warren (Kaleb) and Josh Porter; great grandchildren, Lily & Asher Brown and Elias Warren; siblings, Bobbie Sue Gilbert of Ludlow and James Madison Cockrell, Jr. (Elaine) of Ludlow and a host of friends.

Pallbearers will be Cody Brown, Corey Brown, Kaleb Warren, Brock Richards, Brent Gilbert and Timmy Lathem.
