William Brent Vinson, 84, went to be with his Lord on Friday, March 11, 2016 at his home in Brandon.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 4 until 6 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 14, 2016 at 10 am from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in Brandon Memorial Garden.
William Brent Vinson was born on November 9, 1931 in Puckett, Mississippi to the late F. S. and Velma Burnham Vinson. Brent was a graduate of Puckett High School and attended Hinds Junior College for two years. He was a long time resident of Brandon, MS. and was a Charter Member of Brandon Baptist Church. He had worked as a switchman for Illinois Central Railroad for 38 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner. He served three years as a Merchant Seaman and two years in the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a nephew, Mark Vinson.
Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Glenda Graves Vinson of Brandon, MS; two children, Brenda Murphy (Don) of Puckett, MS and Philip Vinson (Wanda) of Brandon, MS; one brother, Mike Vinson (Marty) of Brandon, MS; special brother in law, Douglas “Bub” Graves of Brandon, MS; five grandchildren, Vince Murphy (Angela), Ashley Shivers (Justin), Paige Vinson, Peyton Vinson, Parker Vinson; and four great-grandchildren, Brianna Murphy, Lila Grace Murphy, Brooke Shivers, and Brady Shivers.
