Joseph Mark Stroud was born on May 1, 1962 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to parents Wayne and Avis Stroud, and passed from this life on September 20, 2024 at his home in Brandon, Mississippi. He was married for 42 years to the Love of his life, Donna Williams Stroud. He was Daddy and Papa to daughter Erica & husband, Randy Easterling, and son Joey & wife Adrienne Stroud, 5 grandchildren Bailey & Kaylee Easterling, & Mark, Luke & Jake Stroud. He is also survived by his mother Avis Stroud and sister Sandra Thornton. He also has a host of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and nieces and nephews who all called him Papa Joe.
Joe worked for 30 years for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and with Thompson Engineering for the last 13 years. He loved working and feeling productive in life, however, he always left room for playing too. He was always looking for the next motorcycle or hotrod to buy. He loved those days when you could jump on a motorcycle or a hotrod and cruise the back roads. He loved living life to the fullest and he did!
There is not one word that can describe Joe Stroud for there are so many! Husband, Father, Daddy, Papa, Papa Joe, Brother Joe, son, teacher, preacher, pastor, dreamer, poet, encourager, helper, but mostly Friend. Joe never met a stranger in all of his traveling in Louisiana and Mississippi. He could light up a room with his entrance. He genuinely loved people from every walk of life. There was no person above or beneath him. The world is a little bit darker without his presence to those who had the privilege of knowing him because he brought that much light into a room and into the lives of people. We will all miss him greatly. If you've been fortunate enough to be friends with Joe or to be loved by him, you'll forever feel a void that God alone can fill. Heaven is a lot closer to some of us today. By faith we know that he is in the presence of God and surrounded by loved ones that have gone on before and yes, even his precious dog Prissy. We will continue on until the Lord calls us all home one day very soon.
