Buddy Shotts

Buddy Shotts, 73, passed away Wed. June 12, 2019 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation will be held on Fri. June 14, 2019 from 4pm-7pm and on Sat. June 15, 2019 from 12pm-12:45pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 1pm on Sat. June 15, 2019 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Cato Cemetery in Rankin County, MS.

Buddy was born on Dec. 3, 1945 to the late Frank and Hazel Shotts. He was a lifelong resident of Cato, MS and was a member of First Baptist Church in Brandon, MS.  In his younger years Buddy was a farmer. He worked as a truck driver for 28 years with O’Neal Steel in Pearl, MS. In January 2019 he retired from the MS State Fire Academy as the Maintenance Director after 20 years of service. Buddy enjoyed welding, carpentry and was an all around handy man. He mentored to people to help them learn not only good working skills, but also about the Lord. Buddy was a very patient and loving man, who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Shotts; two daughters, Tracy Annette Carey and Amy Nicole Carruth (Larry); son, Frank Casey Shotts; sister, Lola Dean Bush (Vernon); five grandchildren, Angela Julian, Michala Crowe, C.J. Shotts, Caroline Shotts and Kaylee Carruth; 7 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Keith Bush and Randy Bush (Jane) and his two dogs, Hobo and Smokey. Buddy is also preceded in death by a grandchild, Erik Xavier McKenzie.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Buddy’s three caregivers, Denise “TT” Amos, Deondra Purvis and Kendra Booker for their dedicated love and care.
