Burnis Theodore Gardner, 91, died peacefully at home in his sleep, June 29, 2018. He was born in West Helena, Arkansas, November 23, 1926, living most of his life in Clay County MS.
He was a World War II veteran serving with the Sixth Marine Division in Okinawa as well as the Korean War.
He graduated from Montpelier High School, Montpelier, MS. He attended Holmes Junior College for two years and received his BS Degree in 1955 and MS Degree in 1958 from Mississippi Southern College, (now University of Southern Mississippi).
An educator for 30 years in the Jackson Public Schools, he taught Industrial Arts (Shop and Mechanical Drawing) at Hardy Junior High School and Siwell Junior High. Mr. Gardner retired from the Jackson Public Schools in 1985.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Clytice Robertson Gardner, a sister-in-law Linda Robertson Bourgeois, Ph.D. (Huntsville, AL), two nephews and one niece.
Graveside services will be held, July 2, 2018, 11 A.M., Harmonia Cemetery located in Attala County. A light luncheon will be provided by the ladies of the Harmonia Congregational Methodist Church following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers anyone wishing to donate may choose a charity of their choice.
