Bro. Calvin Shoemaker Jr.

Bro. Calvin Shoemaker Jr., age 84, a resident of Pelahatchie passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Merit Health in Brandon. His visitation was held 5-9pm Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton and 8am-10am Wednesday at the funeral home. Services were held 11am Wednesday, August 30, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in Leesburg Church of Christ Cemetery. Bro. Jack Stewart officiated the services. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Bro. Shoemaker was born in Rankin County on September 30, 1932. Calvin believed in working hard. He enjoyed sitting on his porch in his rocking chair. Calvin loved the Lord and everywhere he went he told others about God. He spent many years doing Missionary work and married many couples. Bro. Calvin loved his family very much and he will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
His is preceded in death by his parents Calvin Shoemaker Sr. and Annie Bowman Shoemaker; son, Richard Daniel Shoemaker; brother, Henry Paul Shoemaker; sister, Annie Mae Hill; 2 daughters-in-law, Linda Jean Shoemaker and Darlene Myers Shoemaker.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Delois Allen Shoemaker of Pelahatchie; children, Barbara Fortenberry (Bro. Carter) of Leesburg, Roger Shoemaker (Iris Hood) of Pelahatchie, Brenda Gail Myers (Ricky) of Morton, Ricky Lamar Shoemaker of Pelahatchie and Howard Glenn Shoemaker (Angela) of Flowood; 15 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 4 nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Toby Wood, Jimmy Reid, Dillon Vancor, Matthew Fortenberry, Dusty Fortenberry and Cody Edwards.
