Carl Harrison Sr.

Carl Raymond Harrison, Sr., 89, passed away at MS Care Center in Raleigh, MS on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. Visitation for family and friends was held November 4, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 A.M., at Antioch Baptist Church in Brandon. Service were held 11:00 A.M. Burial followed at Antioch Cemetery. Rev. Dennis Ellingburg officiated the services.

Carl was born in Sheveport, LA on June 20, 1928, to Robert Henry Harrison and Minnie Emmer Bittle Harrison. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday school.

He was married to Bonnie Jean Fuller Harrison for 69 years and 7 months. With his job he had with Gulf Oil, they moved to various places, Sheveport to Jackson, then to New Orleans until they moved back to Rankin County where they resided for the past 27 years.

Carl was known for his sense of fashion, love for his family and animals, and the love for serving the Lord. He also enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, and camping.

Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry Harrison and Minnie Emmer Bittle Harrison; two brothers, Robert R. Harrison and Hersel H. Harrison both of Sheveport, LA.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bonnie Jean Harrison; one son, Carl R. (Tanya) Harrison, Jr.; one granddaughter, Amber Harrison (Bubba) Sandifer; one grandson, Justin (Ashlee) Harrison; two great grandsons, Gage Sandifer and Briar Harrison, all of Puckett.

Pallbearers were be Mark Russell, Jason Jones, Chris Jones, Terrell Hughes, Joe Hedgepeth, and Don Carter. Honorary pallbearers were be Chris Carter, Doug Carter, Wallace Patrick, R.L. Till, Ronald Palmer, Hubert Bowman, Glenn Slade and Ty White.
Memorials may be made to Antioch Baptist Church General Fund, 2350 Hwy 43 South, Brandon, MS 39042.
