Carol Miller North
Brandon, MS
Carol Miller North, 83, passed away peacefully at her home, on Saturday, March 11, 2017.
She was born on January 17, 1934 to Oran and Lois Miller. She grew up in Kosciusko and West Mississippi, and graduated from Kosciusko High School. Following high school, she moved to Jackson where she finished Business School, and began working. She taught dancing at the Author Murray School of Dancing in Jackson before marrying Robert L. (Bob) North.
Following the birth of their two children, the Norths moved to Brandon where they made their home for the last 53 years. She was a stay-home mother for many years, then worked for the city of Brandon, and for several state agencies.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and very special friend to many. Her nature and demeanor was giving, calm, and happy. She never complained, was always playful, and enjoyed decorating for all seasons, and holidays. She loved all animals, and was known to save many animals in Brandon, and anywhere that she saw an animal in need. Many people brought her injured animals to nurse back to health before releasing them back to their habitat. Carol was an avid gardener and bridge player. She loved being outside, and working in her yard and flower gardens at her favorite place on Earth, her home. She was a member of many bridge clubs throughout her life, and played in clubs with her many friends for over 50 years. She was a member of the First Friday Club, The Matron’s Club, and several others. An active parishioner of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Carol served on the Alter Guild, and many other committees throughout the years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Robert L. (Bob) North, her parents, Oran and Lois Miller, and mother-in-law, Georgie Z. Pepper. Survivors include her children and grandchildren whom she adored; her son, Robert Jeffrey (Jeff) North, and her daughter, Jan Kirkland Hogue (Charlie), both of Madison; three grandsons; John Hartley North, Craig Howard Kirkland, Jr., and Robert Clayton Kirkland; a special daughter-in-law, Peggy Hartley North, sister, Inez Taylor, two nephews, Mac and Tom Miller, and her well-loved and spoiled Beagle, Tippy.
