Carolyn Ables

Carolyn Ables, of Brandon, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. 

A funeral service will be held in the chapel at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

Carolyn was born January 8, 1944, in Camden, Arkansas to J.D. and Ada Mahan. She resided in Camden until she moved to Reedsport, Oregon in 1979 for a short time before settling in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1980. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Army Corps of Engineers until her retirement in 2011. She then moved to Brandon, Mississippi, where she stayed until her passing. A couple of Carolyn’s hobbies included shopping and reading. She was a member of Brandon First Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J.D. and Ada Mahan, and her husband, Ralph Louis Ables.

Survivors include her daughters, Dawn Almond (Russ) of Brandon, MS and Anne Haskell (Willie) of Salem, OR; grandchildren, Drew and Ashley Almond of Brandon, MS and MaryLynn Varner (David), Jen Ost (Alex), and Sara Haskell of Salem, OR; great grandchildren, Nicole, Hailey, Landon, and Avery Varner, and Oakley Ost; and one sister, Marilyn Clemons (Don) of Little Rock, AR.
