Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Lee French will be conducted at 10 am on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from the Salem Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be Monday, November 16, 2015 from 5 pm – 9 pm at the funeral home and one Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Carrie Lee French was born November 5, 1927 in Newton County and passed away November 14, 2015 at her home at the age of 88.
As described by her family, she was a selfless, big hearted, feisty, loving mother and grandmother who will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Known for her “hardworking” work ethic and loyalty to her “Lake Hornets”, Mrs. Carrie Lee was a dedicated employee at Lake School, having retired at the age of 82 after 37 years of faithful service. Let it be noted, she was “everybody’s Nanny” as she demonstrated that love to all the children she came into contact with. Mrs. French was a member of Salem Baptist Church at Lake.
She is preceded in death by her three husbands: James Benton Stroud, Jimmy D. Waltman, and Dennis French; her parents: Dock and Bernice Leach Parker; two brothers: Duey Franklin Parker and Edward Parker.
Survivors include her children: Jessie (Nancy) Stroud of Lake and Deborah (Travis) Stephens of Lawrence; one sister: Mary Frances Lawshee of Mobile, AL; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chris Stroud, Blake Posey, Daryl Robinson, Billy Robinson, Adam Brown, and Keith Parker.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Bryant and James Edward Parker.
