Catherine Franklin

Winston-Salem North Carolina.

Catherine Ratliff Collier Franklin, 93, left the world on April 29th, 2019 with the same grace and dignity as she walked through it. Her kindness, thoughtfulness and gentle manner will be missed by all her knew her.

Catherine was the daughter of Thomas Harris Collier and Lonnie Ratliff Collier of Brandon Mississippi. She was the younger sister of the late Thomas Harris Collier, Jr. and Lonnie Collier Ross. Although she had not lived there for many years, Brandon was always in her heart. She enjoyed reminiscing about her family , friends and her youth in her much loved home town.

She married the late Henry Joseph Franklin of New Orleans in 1947.  After living in different areas of the country and in Madrid, Spain, the couple made their home in New Orleans. They lived in New Orleans until 2005 when they moved to Winston-Salem. Catherine was the chief financial officer of their 3 companies. They enjoyed traveling, sailing and entertaining.

Catherine and H.J have left behind 2 daughters, Catherine Franklin Donnow (Husband Terry Donnow) of Hammond, Louisiana and Lonnie Franklin Clark (Husband Richard Clark) of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was also the mother of Ann Franklin who died at birth in Albuquerque New Mexico.

She leaves 3 adoring grandchildren, Marie Collier Kennedy (Husband Sean Cook), Graham Franklin Kennedy (Wife Christina Guy Kennedy) and Bruce B. Kennedy (Wife Rebecca Corkern Kennedy)

She was the beloved  aunt of  Connie Collier Jones, Thomas Harris Collier III, James Emmett Collier,  Adele Peters Johnson, William J. Dwelle and the late George A. Dwelle. She was the sister in law of the late Dorothy Murphy Collier, Elaine Franklin Dwelle, Stanley Dwelle, and Oren Ross.

Her love of music, entertaining company and making all around her feel truly special in her presence will not be soon forgotten.

Visitation will be 11:30am - 12:45pm on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Graveside service will follow at 1pm Thursday, in the Old Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, MS.
