Cera Smith

On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, Cera McCool Smith, loving mother and Sassy, as her grandkids called her, passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism at age sixty-six. She is survived by her sons Clay and Ryan, her brother Jimmy, her sister Cathy, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was a gifted artist who received a bachelor’s degree for interior design from Mississippi University for Women. She returned to college to study nursing where she found her true calling as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery for nearly forty years.

Cera was caring, loving, as well as fierce and strong. She selflessly fought for those she loved. She was a true dog lover, her love for her rescue boxer, Josie, was only rivaled by her love for her boys. She had the same passion for sports. Football and NASCAR were her favorite, she loved the Mannings and Dale Jr. She taught her sons to be independent, how to clean and cook for themselves. Demonstrated how to be loving and loyal.

Visitation will be held at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 3pm - 6pm.
