CHARLES EDWARD ADCOX

POLKVILLE

Charles Edward Adcox, age 65, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at his residence. Visitation will be held Thursday from 5-9pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral Services will be held 11am Friday, March 25, 2011 from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Morton with burial in the Piney Grove Cemetery. Rev. Dewayne Miller will officiate the services. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.

Charles was born in Morton, MS on March 31, 1945 to Webb Adcox and Lois Harrison Adcox. The family lived in Polkville, MS. Following completion of his education, Charles lived for several years in Jackson, MS where he met his wife, Connie Dowell. They were married December 21, 1968. After working manufacturing for several years, Mr. Adcox returned to his native area in Smith County. For over thirty years he was active in the poultry, hay and cattle business. Charles was an avid gardener continually learning, sharing his knowledge and the fruits of his labor. This interest allowed him to commune with nature and brought him a peace with God and his fellowman. In his earlier years with better eyesight, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved talking to people and truly never met a stranger. He was always quick to help a neighbor. Even in sickness he was positive and slow to complain.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Webb and Lois Adcox; his brothers, Troy Lee Adcox, Bobby Adcox, James Wesley Adcox and sisters, Libby Adcox Taylor, Christine Adcox Ward.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Connie; his daughter, Cassandra (Dee Dee) Adcox Garrett (Matthew); his son, Marcus “Mark” Adcox (Tina) and four precious grandsons, Zach and Dylan Adcox and Andrew and Sean Garrett; sisters, Webbie Adcox Miller, Rita Adcox Cole and Deborah Adcox Carelton.

A very special thank you is extended to Dr. Baker and staff, Dr. Friedman and staff and the staff of Gentiva Hospice.

Memorials may be made to Piney Grove Cemetery Fund.
