Charles Vance

Charles Earl Vance, 71, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 27, 2018. Born on October 27, 1946, to Earl and Grace Vance, he was a lifetime resident of Brandon, MS. He was a graduate of the Brandon High School Class of 1964, attended The University of Southern Mississippi, and received a business degree from Mississippi College.

Following graduation, Charles began his career in banking as an auditor and eventually became the Head Auditor of the Mississippi Department of Savings and Loans. After retiring from the state, he began a second career as a real estate broker and agent with Norsco Realty and ERA Real Estate Professionals.

He married the love of his life, Dixie Boxx Vance, in 1986 and two years later became the doting father to his daughter, Allison Vance Walters. Charles loved spending time with friends and family, especially his two grandchildren. He was known for always having a smile or a joke and was kind and generous to everyone he met.

Charles was a dedicated charter member and active deacon of Brandon Baptist Church. He was also very active in the FAITH outreach program and the Ball Sunday School Class. He was an active member of Gideons International for many years. Charles was a lover of history and politics and enjoyed traveling and Ole Miss Athletics.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Earl and Grace Myers Vance of Brandon, MS. He is survived by his wife, Dixie; daughter, Allie Walters (Tyler); grandchildren, Stella Grace and Charlie Walters; sister, Linda Means (Rufus); and multiple other family members including nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. The funeral will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Brandon Baptist Church, with internment at Floral Hills Cemetery.

Serving as Pallbearers are as follows:  Edward Means, Sess Means, Chase Means, Chris Anthony, Jay Anthony, and Trace Sugg. The Ball Sunday School will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Charles’s name to the Children’s Building Fund at Brandon Baptist Church.
