Charles Aubrey Emmons, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Wed. Nov. 15, 2017, while surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held on Fri. Nov. 17, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 11am on Sat. Nov. 18, 2017 at Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon, MS.
Charles was born on Jan. 1, 1931, in Birmingham, AL, to Dewey and Lois Emmons. He grew up in Mobile, AL, until moving to the Goodhope community in Scott County, where he graduated from Goodhope School in 1949. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII.
He was a longtime resident of Rankin County and proudly served as a member of the Rankin County School Board for many years. A Mason, Shriner, Rotarian, and faithful member of Crossgates Baptist Church, he recently retired as a deputy with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department. He lived life to its fullest, but his passion was raising cattle on the family homestead.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia McDill Emmons of Brandon; sons, Rickey (Brenda) of Brandon, and Russ (Trina) of Pearl; grandchildren, Britney, Cameron (Brittney), Joshua (Jessica), and Hannah Grace; great-grandsons, Clint, Devin and Kross; sister, Sibyl Gordy of Forest; brother, James (Barbara) Emmons of Santa Rosa, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and his son, Randy.
