Charles Gibbs

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Willis Gibbs will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 9, 2018 from the Ott & Lee Funeral with the Rev. Travis Watkins and Rev. Victor Bugg officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Cemetery at Lawrence under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel.

Visitation will be on from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the funeral home and on Friday from 12:30 pm – 1:45 pm prior to the funeral service.

Charles Willis Gibbs was born in Newton County on February 9, 1940 to his parents Clarence and Sadie Fagan Gibbs who precede him in death. He passed away on February 5, 2018 at the age of 77.

He was a Baptist by faith who enjoyed all types hunting in particular, squirrel and rabbit. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and the great outdoors. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and his love for cattle farming.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Clarence & Sadie Fagan Gibbs; one sister: Myrtis McCrory and one brother: Billy Gibbs.

Survivors include his three children: Dawn (Donovan) Copeland of Florence; Angela (Jerry) Woodward of Raymond; and Michael (Gina) Gibbs of Raleigh; one step son: Tim Ivey; two sisters: Mamie Nester of Lake and Mary Sue Fulton of Conehatta; one sister in law: Evelyn Gibbs of Quitman; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Woodward, Austin Woodward, Rodney Walton, Shannon Gibbs, Mark Williamson and Ronnie Williamson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Gibbs, Delbert Walton, and John Michael Dennis.

Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
