Charles Ruben Miller, age 77 and a resident of Pelahatchie, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson after an extended illness.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, September 11, 2020 from Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery, 6004 Hwy. 25, Brandon, MS 39047 under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Rev. T. J. Porter will officiate.
Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 am – 10:00 am at Ott & Lee Funeral Home, 3555 Hwy. 80, Morton, MS 39117.
Mr. Miller was a native of Sidon, Leflore County, Mississippi. A retired truck driver for BOC Gases, he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and playing dominoes. He tried his hand at gardening, enjoyed playing softball, and working the sports fields as an umpire. He was a member of Lake Harbor Baptist Church and was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Marine Corp, serving in the Bay of Pigs Invasion.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Mrs. Joyce M. Miller; his parents: Lewis Russ and Katie Fulcher Miller and nine siblings.
Survivors include one daughter: Tammy L. (Tommy) Withers of Morton; two brothers: Jessie Miller and Kenny (Sheila) Miller, both of Pelahatchie; three grandchildren: Lane (Emily) Withers, Peyton Withers, and Paige Withers; and two great-grandchildren: Gray Withers and Wren Withers; 6 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be B.J. Bates, Dusty Bates, Robert Rogers, Lane Withers, Mark Miller, and Kevin Renfrow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blair E. Baston Hospital for Children, 2500 N State St, Jackson, MS 39216.
*Social distancing must be practiced, and facial coverings must be worn during services.
