Charles W. Stevenson Sr., 87, passed away Tues. May 17, 2016 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Visitation will be held on Wed. May 18, 2016 from 5pm-8pm and on Thurs. May 19, 2016 from 12pm-12:45pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 1pm on Thurs. May 19, 2016 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with burial to follow in the Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS.

Mr. Stevenson was born in Leesburg, MS and was a longtime resident of Rankin County, MS. He was a member of the Pelahatchie Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, MS where he was also the secretary and treasurer for the Men’s IV Sunday School Class. Mr. Stevenson was proud of his military service and he served his country in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard where he was given the name Charles “War Daddy” Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson was an avid gardener in which he gave most of the vegetables he grew away. Most of all, Mr. Stevenson loved his family very much and always made sure they were taken care of.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Stevenson; five children, Richard Stevenson (Myra), Charles Stevenson Jr. (LaWanda), Cindy Wallace (Price), Michael Stevenson Sr. (Virginia), and Aletha Davis (John); one sister, Marie Massey; two brothers, Paul Stevenson and Ellie Ray Stevenson; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Stevenson is preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Lula Belle Stevenson; one sister, Corene Henry and one brother, Lavell Stevenson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pelahatchie Baptist Church at P. O. Box 355 Pelahatchie, MS 39145.
