Funeral services for Mr. Charles Lanier Watkins will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 28, 2016 from the Ott & Lee Chapel with Bro. Tommy Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home and on Thursday one hour prior to the funeral service.
Charles Lanier Watkins was born in Newton County, GA on November 3, 1948 and passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at his home at the age of 67. He had lived in this area for the last 23 years, moving from Tennessee. He was a Free Mason, associated with the Homewood Lodge, and a member of Homewood Methodist Church. He was a retired business owner, having owned Quik Stop in Forest.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Parks & Lenora Parker Watkins; and one daughter: Shelia Boykin Matrz.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years: Shirley Watkins of Forest; two children: Mike Boykin and Tyler Watkins, both of Forest; three grandchildren: Anna Grace Boykin, Luke Boykin and Cole Irby; one great-grandchild: Grayson Irby; five siblings: Ernest, Gary, Horace, Willie, Larry, Louise, and Lorene, all of Georgia; many nieces and nephews.
