Charles E. BradshawRaymond, MS
Charles Edgar Bradshaw, 72, of Raymond, MS, passed away
peacefully on January 19, 2014, at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical
Center in Jackson, MS.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Emma Rachel
Nettles Bradshaw; father, Dr. Henry David Bradshaw; step-mother, Melba Stone
Bradshaw, and sister Ada Lou Bradshaw Trest.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Sue Allen
Bradshaw; his two sons: Dr. Mark Allen
Bradshaw and LCDR Douglas Matthew Bradshaw; daughter-in-law: Millie Mitchell
Bradshaw; grandsons: Hunter, Isaac, and
Matthew, and grand-daughter Esther; two sisters: Barbara Bradshaw Lamb of
Winter Park, FL, and Sarah Dodge of Pelahatchie, MS.
Charles was born on February 4, 1941 in Eupora, MS. He graduated from George S. Gardner High
School in Laurel, MS, and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering
from Mississippi State University and a Master of Science in Engineering from
the University of Oklahoma. He served our country as a Captain in the U.S. Army
in the Republic of South Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 where he was awarded the
Army Commendation Medal. Following his
active duty service, he became an engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers in Vicksburg, MS, where he retired as the Chief of Design Branch in
1993. He also worked as an engineer with the Mississippi State Department of
Health, where he retired in 2000.
Charles was a man who loved the Lord and strived to please
Him. He will be remembered for his
genuine kindness, integrity, Christian Faith, and service to our country, and
he was considered by many to be a true friend.
He enjoyed studying the Bible and was an avid reader of history. He was a member of the First Baptist Church
of Raymond, MS, where he was ordained a deacon in 1980.
Funeral services will be held at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in
Brandon, MS at 12:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2014. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning
from 10:00 to 12:00.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made
to the Mississippi State Veteran's Home, Activities Department, 4607 Lindbergh
Dr., Jackson, MS 39209.
