Funeral services for Mr. Chester Clyde Lancaster will be conducted on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM from the Leaf River Baptist Church in Smith County with the Rev. James T. Maddox officiating. Interment will be in the Leaf River Cemetery with military honors under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the funeral home and on Thursday, from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at the church prior to the funeral service.
Chester Clyde Lancaster was born October 18, 1923 in Smith County to his parents, the late G.C. & Beulah Wilkins Lancaster. He passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Pallatite Care, affiliated with the VA Hospice Center at the age of 91.
He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Vietnam War, respectively. He was a member of Leaf River Baptist Church and a longtime employee of Tadlock Stockyards from 1967 until his death. Going to auctions and cattle farming, were two things this simple man who lived a simple life, and the “Mayor of Pineville,” enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Lou Lewis Lancaster in 1976; his parents; one daughter: Margaret Lou Lancaster; one son: Grover Chester Lancaster; one granddaughter: Betty Leanne Stephens; one step grandchild; two sisters: Lillian Bailey and Lucille Baker; and five brothers: F.W. Lancaster, Hugh Lancaster, Woodard Lancaster, Dale Lancaster, and A.F. Lancaster.
He is survived by his three children: Margie Ann Lancaster and Joe Cleve Lancaster, both of Pineville; and Benjamin Clyde (Carmyn L.) Lancaster of Taylorsville; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Melva Courtney of Pearl and Nita Ray Dunbar of Dawson Springs, KY; two special friends of over 50 years: Chris & Diane Dyg; a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be David Tadlock, Greg Warren, Jesse Ray Lancaster, Rhue Nutt, Michael Moncrief, and Willis R. Vaughn.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Roberts and Derrick Copeland.
