Chris was born in Centreville, MS, November 20, 1919, and was the eldest of four and last surviving daughter of James Bythel and Emma Hobgood. She spent a large portion of her childhood in Baton Rouge, LA, living with her paternal grandmother, whom she adored.
Chris was married for 53 years to Louis Brown, a Brandon native, who predeceased her in 1992.
She was the Director of Housekeeping, at what was then known as Rankin General Hospital for 15 years. During her recent stay there, one of her original employees came to visit her daily. She has been a member of the Brandon First United Methodist Church since she married and moved to Brandon.
Chris loved playing bridge with her many pals and belonged to several bridge clubs which were over 50 years old. For many years she was also in the Brandon Garden Club. She excelled in the understatement and never failed to bring a smile with her quick wit or a roll of the eyes!
