Christine Lee Burns, age 66, died Tuesday January 7, 2014 in Meridian following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 11am Friday January 10, 2014 from the chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest with interment in Carr Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4pm-7pm Thursday at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Rev. Jack Lee, Rev. Tommy Anderson and Rev. Gene Banes officiated.
Mrs. Burns was born in Newton, MS on April 5, 1947 to her parents Corbett Lee and Elma Hollingsworth Lee. She was a member of the Goodhope Baptist Church in Lake. She had worked for Sunbeam and later Raytheon until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of the Norris Homemakers Club and enjoyed her friends and community activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy T. Burns, a sister, Dorothy Cooksey, brothers: Alton Lee, Earl Lee 3 nieces: Clydene Bolton, Daisy McDonald, Deborah Hartman and a nephew; Robert Earl Lee.
Survivors include her mother-in-law; Mrs. Vallie Burns of Lake, 5 nieces; Pam Collins (Ray) of Newton, Gail Tarver of Florence, Linda Shoemaker (Billy) of Newotn, Nelda Strickland (Jimmy) of Union and Mary Parks (Brent) of Newton,MS. 3 nephews; Jimmy Cooksey (Diane) Ottis Cooksey (Linda) all of Lake,MS Jack Lee (Kim) of Oxford,AL a special friend Linda Harris and 51 great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Wayne Cooksey, Paul Cooksey, Wade Cooksey, Jason Judge, Donovan Cooksey and Jason Thornton.
