Cindy Mae Paxton

Cindy Mae Paxton, of Brandon, passed from this world on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

She was the oldest of four children born to the late Walter and Kay Swanner. The family resided in Jackson for many years before relocating to Rankin County. 

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Kay Swanner and her niece Emily Swanner.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her partner Mark Canterbury; son Nick Paxton; bonus children Alexa Welker (Hartley) and Kelsey Canterbury; grandson Austin Paxton; grandson Asher Morgan; brother Walter Swanner, Jr.; sister Vanessa Johnson (David); brother Scott Swanner (Sherra); nieces Jessica Milner and Emma Swanner; nephews Dumas Milner and Trace Alan Swanner; and many friends who loved her dearly.

Cindy was a graduate of Manhattan Academy and Belhaven College. She was a graphic designer for Jackson Public Schools for more than 20 years.

Cindy was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, partner, and friend and was beloved by all who knew her. She had a lively personality and loved to laugh. Her kindness and generosity touched everyone around her. Cindy was highly creative and possessed great artistic talent, which she expressed through her work at JPS and her lifelong love of painting. Her pastimes included enjoying the company of her family and friends, spending time at the beach, playing cards and board games, and making art.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
