C L Sumrall, 78, a resident of Polkville died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, 2014 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton with interment in the Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held 2-6 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Rev. Barron Price and Rev. Zach Kilpatrick officiated the services. Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Morton was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sumrall is a native of Scott Co. He was the son of Carl and Mammie Jacobs Sumrall. He was married to Ella Wese Beatty Sumrall. Mr. Sumrall was Presbyterian. He worked for Shippers Express as a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Jackson, MS. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed working in his garden and cutting his grass. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Mr. Sumrall was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mammie Jacobs Sumrall; daughter, Beverly Lawson and his brother, Lamar Sumrall.
Mr. Sumrall is survived by his wife, Ella Wese Sumrall; children, James (Brenda) Sonnenberg, Vanetta McGhee, Carol Meadows, Michael Sumrall, Curtis Sumrall and Kelly Sumrall; Son In Law, Charles Lawson; brother, Eugene (Peggy) Sumrall; sisters, Rosie Murray, Nan (Roy) Fullilove, Nancy (John) Hall and Bonnie Roberts; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; beloved pet, Oscar; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Serving and honoring Mr. Sumrall as pallbearers were Leland McGhee, Brad Meadows, Tommy Beatty, Steve Pruitt, Don Roberts, John Hall and Auburn Beatty.
