Claude Oliver Fitzhugh passed away peacefully on his farm May 28, 2018. He went to be with the Lord and joined his wife of 45 years, Mildred Johnson Fitzhugh. Claude Oliver was born October 2, 1930, in Ludlow, Mississippi to Jim and Vivian Fitzhugh. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Edward Fitzhugh and Kelly Fitzhugh. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Kendra Fitzhugh, and grandchildren Olivia, Laura, and Grant Watkins.
Visitation was held 4pm-8pm Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Services were held 1pm Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Ludlow Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.
Claude Oliver will be fondly remembered for his love of the Lord, family, friends, and his farm,. During his life Claude served proudly as a Mason, became an accomplished farmer, dedicated life long deacon of Ludlow Baptist Church, mail carrier for his community, and a wonderful host whose door was always open and the table always ready for his abundance of friends. His life was one of hard work, sacrifice for family, love of friends, and the richness of a Christian life.
Services were officiated by Bro. Jim Burns with music and song by Sarah Langford and Kelly Langford. Claude Olivier was laid to rest by pallbearers Gerald Johnson, Edward Dowell, Jim West, Kenny Latham, Joel Puckett, and Jerome Pitre. Honorary pallbearers were Paul David Crawford, Hubert Shoemaker, and Kenneth Johnson.
