Claude Earl Sorey

Funeral services for Mr. Claude Earl Sorey will be conducted at 2 pm Monday, December, 14, 2015 from the Ott & Lee Chapel with Bro. James Arthur McMillan and Bro. Harold Laird officiating. Interment will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery at Lake under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 5 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home and on Monday beginning at 1 pm prior to the service.

Claude Earl Sorey was born September 27, 1928 in Scott County and passed away December 12, 2015 at his home on McMillan hill at the age of 87.

He was a graduate of Pineville High School and attended Clarke Memorial College in Newton after his service to his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War conflict. Mr. Sorey was a member of the American Legion at Forest, the Scott County Coon Hunters Association and the Good Hope Baptist Church at Lake. He was a family man, who loved his grandsons and instilled in them values of a strong work ethic. He enjoyed farming and was the longtime business owner of Sorey Tire Company in Forest.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Claude and Minnie Lee Houston Sorey and his siblings: Maggie Elizabeth Blakeney and William Delton Sorey.

Survivors include his wife of almost 62 years: Blanche McMillan Sorey of Forest; two sons: Mike (Lisa) Sorey of Forest and Tim (Connie) Sorey of Lake; three grandsons: Cody Sorey, Tyler Sorey, and Ryan Sorey; two great-grandchildren: Jayden Kiltz and Macy JoAnn Sorey; and host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Cody Sorey, Tyler Sorey, Ryan Sorey, Michael Shackleford, Brad Ware, and Stephen Myers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the employees of Sorey Tire Company.
