Clayton J. Rushing, age 72, a lifelong resident of Forest died Monday August 12, 2013 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson following an extended illness.
Funeral services were conducted at 2pm Wednesday August 14, 2013 at Ephesus Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 11am to 1pm Wednesday August 14, 2013 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy Anderson and Rev. Ted Hawkins officiated.
Mr. Rushing was born in Scott County on December 23, 1940 to his parents Mondell Rushing and Velma Knowles Rushing. After graduating high school he attended Barber College. He had a great love for his country and served in the United States Army. He was a farmer, and a member of Ephesus Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors and was a sports enthusiast. Mr. Rushing loved spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Linda G. Rushing of Forest, 2 sons: Steve Clay Rushing (Jennifer) and Dave Shannon Rushing all of Forest. He is also survived by a brother; Granville Rushing (Ruth) also of Forest and a sister; Carolyn Jones of Pelahatchie. He also leaves behind 2 grandsons; Justin Rushing and Josh Rushing both of Forest.
Pallbearers were Josh Rushing, Justin Rushing, Michael Clark, Kenneth Warren, Tim Rushing and Dale Rushing.
