Cletus J. Loyd Overby, 93, died Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at Peachtree Village in Brandon, Ms. She was born April 22, 1919, in Lee County, Ms, to Thomas Noah Loyd and Farby Plunkett Loyd. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Jefferson Overby, son, Bobby Loyd Overby, son, Jimmie Dale Overby, and brother Cecil Loyd. She loved her Lord and shared Him with many throughout her life. She prayed for all of her family and friends nightly, calling each by name. She loved people and with the multiple moves she made in her lifetime she gathered many friends. She was a member of Park Place Baptist Church, Pearl, Ms, and had a special love for Eggville Freewill Baptist Church in Eggville, Ms. She was a homemaker, worked various small jobs throughout her life, and was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 18, 2012, from 5PM til 7 PM and starting at 1pm on Friday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Services will be Friday at 2PM in the chapel of Ott and Lee with Dr. Gerald Gann, Dr. Keith Grubbs, and Bro. Thomas Loyd (her nephew) officiating. Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Lawrence (Gerald) of Brandon, MS, her daughter-in-law, Appolonia Overby(Bobby-deceased), Shreveport, LA; grandsons David Overby (Lisa) Iuka, MS, Mitchell Overby (Aleta), Ruston, LA, Jeremy (Jaime) Lawrence, Oxford, MS, and Jason Lawrence, Brandon, MS; two step grandchildren, Donna Andrews (Glenn) Brandon, MS, and Tim Young, Lena, MS; four great grandchildren, Ashlyn Klaire Overby, Iuka, MS, Landon Lawrence, Oxford, MS, Anton Overby, and Alex Overby, New Orleans, LA; two step great grandchildren, Destin Young, Blanchard, LA, Matthew Young, Lena, MS; one great-great step granddaughter, Ava Tanner, Blanchard, LA. She also leaves neices, nephews, and other relatives that she dearly loved.
Pallbearers will be David Overby, Mitchell Overby, Jeremy Lawrence, Jason Lawrence, Mike Loyd and Thomas Loyd. Honorary pallbearers are Cecil Wayne Loyd, Winston Ray Aron, Anton Overby, and Alex Overby.
