Laura (Cricket) McKay Caudill passed away peacefully at The Blake at Township. She was
92 years of age and surrounded by family at the time of her death.
Cricket was born in Bentonia, MS to John and Della (Hopson) McKay, but Brandon is where she
called home. As a charter member of Brandon Baptist Church, she spent her Sundays doing
what she loved - serving as a greeter and worshipping with her fellow church members.
Cricket spent her life focused on the needs of her ever-growing family. She was famous city
wide for her sense of style and seamstress skills. Sewing was not her only talent, as she was
also a prolific crafter and an avid dancer. She spent much of her later years visiting retirement
homes with her dance group for the residents' entertainment.
Cricket was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Denver Caudill and her two sons:
Ronny Caudill and Barry Caudill (Charlene), two brothers : JV McKay (Alice) and Lamar McKay
Sr. (Doris), and one sister: Velma Hopson Echols (JW).
She is survived by her two daughters: Lana Caudill Lewis (James), Madison, MS and Pam
Caudill Richardson of Lake Mary, FL; six grandchildren: Kristi Lewis Tidwell, Ryan Lewis (Kim),
Andrea Lewis McGee (Jason), Angie Caudill Huselton (Steve), Brian Richardson (Lauren), Tara
Caudill Arts (Michael); and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 am Monday, April 18th, at Brandon Baptist Church with visitation
starting at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Brandon Memorial Gardens. Dr. Clarence Cooper will officiate the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brandon Baptist Church Building Fund.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of The Blake and Brandon Baptist Church.
