Irvin Curtis Horn, Sr, age 82 and a lifelong resident of the Harperville community, died Monday, February 15, 2021, following a brief illness at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery V. A. Hospital in Jackson.
Graveside services will be conducted from the Harperville Memorial Park at 2:30 pm Friday, February 19, 2021, with Rev. Larry Duncan officiating.
Visitation will be held from 1pm-2pm at the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Curtis was born in Scott County to his parents Ben Sedric Horn, Sr. and Lizzie May Mahaffey Horn on September 9, 1938. He proudly served in the United States Marines from 1956 to 1960. Mr. Horn was the Plant Superintendent for the Lazy Boy Corporation in Newton until he retired. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was also a flight instructor, enjoyed flying, visiting with friends and family. He enjoyed the outdoors and lived every day to its fullest. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Mary Overstreet Horn.
Survivors include his four children; Irvin Curtis Horn, Jr. (Patricia) of Flora, MS
Mark Horn ( Lynn) of Villa Rica, GA. Stephen Brian Horn (Desiree) of Flowood, MS and Shawn Horn (Carrie) of Decatur, MS. He is also survived by a brother, John Thomas Horn (Tonya) of Newton, and sister; Edwina Jones (Gary) of Forest. Mr. Horn also leaves a legacy of 7 grandchildren; Mason Horn, Marissa Horn, Victoria Walding, Jarrett Horn, Karmen Horn, Darby Horn, and Aliyah Horn.
