Curtis Martin Lofton, 81, died Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. Visitation is 12 Noon until 2 pm Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services are 2 pm Saturday from the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery near Raleigh, MS.
Mr. Lofton was born in Smith County, Mississippi on April 21, 1929 to the late Curtis Mack Lofton and the late Minnie Boykin Lofton. He was a graduate of Raleigh High School. He was an Air Force Veteran; an avid gardener; and was a retired U. S. Postal Carrier. He had a very strong Christian Faith and attended McDowell Road Baptist Church for many years. He had recently moved to Heritage House of Castlewoods Assisted Living facility, after living for many years in the Byram Community.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 59 years, Lucy Mataline Lofton; and his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Grant Keith Lofton (Ruthie) of Braxton, MS and Jeffery Lofton (Susan) of Madison, MS; two grandchildren, Julianne Bailey (Christopher) and Angela Warrell (Michael), along with two great grandchildren, Justin and Jeremy Westbrook. Also survived by a very loving and close extended family of seven siblings, Helen Butler, Bobbi Bishop, Dixie Simpson, Paul Lofton, Mack Lofton, John Lofton, Harry Lofton, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a very special “Thank You” to the staff and workers at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland for the love and kindness given Mr. Lofton and his family.
