Daniel McLaurin Mayers, Jr., 87, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, met his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS.
He was born in Brandon, Mississippi on August 30, 1928 and he served his country in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Mayers retired from Marquette Cement and the Farmers Market.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hilda Brantley Mayers. He was the beloved father of Daniel McLaurin Mayers III and spouse, Judy of Brandon, Carla Mayers Grimball and spouse Ross of Baton Rouge, LA, and Louis Brantley Mayers and spouse Debbie of Braxton. He was the brother of William Mayers and spouse Margie, and Charlotte Mayers Faries and spouse Charles. He was the grandfather of Ashton Grimball, Brantley Grimball, Cameron Grimball, Justin Ellington and Joy Mayers. He will be missed by many family members and many friends. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Charlotte Mayers.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation beginning on Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 2 pm until 5 pm at Ott and Lee Funeral Home, Brandon, MS. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Monday, November 30, 2015 at the Ott and Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Brandon, MS with interment to follow at the Old Brandon Cemetery.
