Well Done Good And Faithful Servant

Danny Carley Smith, 74, of Pearl, MS, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.  He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 26, 1948, to the late James Monroe Smith, Sr. and Letha Mae (Williamson) Smith. Danny grew up in Mendenhall, MS, alongside his three siblings Brenda Jordan, Lisa Hembree, and the late James Monroe Smith, Jr.  After graduating from Pinola High School, Danny spent the summer working at Universal Manufacturing Plant, where he met the love of his life, Martha A. Wood.  The two went on to attend Jones County Junior College together and then married on August 1, 1969.

Danny began his career working at U-Haul as a District Manager. After ten years, Danny and Martha's passion for the rental business and for serving their community led them to start their own business,  Pearl Rental Center in 1981. For over 40 years, they served countless loyal customers from the City of Pearl and surrounding areas. The business is still open today and managed by his youngest daughter Danielle.

Despite Danny's professional accomplishments, he considered his most important job titles to be a Husband, Dad, and Paw Paw. Anyone that knew Danny, knew that he was the most loving and devoted Godly man that a family could ask for.   He was happiest in his later years when traveling in his RV with his family or at their country cabin, which he built in Mize, MS.  Spending time with his family meant more to him than anything else in the world which strengthened his will to live.

Danny came to know Jesus Christ as his savior as a young child, growing up in church. He remained a faithful christian for his entire life.  He was a good man and walked in integrity and his family are blessed after him. We know that God is pleased to have one of his kind and generous angels in his arms, where he belongs.  His master replied, Well done, good and faithful servant!

Danny is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 53 years, Martha Wood Smith; daughters, Angie Smith Brewer (Larry) and Danielle Smith Odom; and four grandchildren, Swayze Brewer, Carley Odom, Shelby Odom and Brody Odom.

A private family service will be held Friday, October 21, 2022 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. A private graveside ceremony will follow at Floral Hills in Pearl, MS.
